FROM THE TUM CAMPUS TO CEO IN SINGAPORE
Jonas Strahberger has always enjoyed taking responsibility for others, for example as a basketball coach for young people. He has consistently followed this path. Today, as CEO of TÜV Süd ASEAN, he is responsible for over 1,000 employees and can do exactly what he has always wanted to do: have a socially relevant impact, connect disciplines, ideas, and cultures, and deliver solutions that are both practical and future-oriented.
TUM graduates are frequently found in Singapore’s executive suites.
NO FEAR OF CONTACT
Jonas Strahberger found his way to TÜV SÜD through TUM. As his studies offered a high degree of flexibility, he worked as a working student, freelancer, and intern alongside his studies. “Studying at TUM was my ‘ticket’ to my professional life and opened up a wide range of opportunities for me,” says Strahberger. “I am very grateful for that.” He also met his first mentor, who still supports him today, through his work as a student trainee at the Munich Stock Exchange. She was also the bridge to TÜV SÜD.
Jonas Strahberger never had any reservations about foreign cultures; on the contrary, he valued the exchange. The internship in Singapore was preceded by a semester abroad in Turkey. “These experiences taught me that in an increasingly ambiguous world, my own perspective is not the only one,” says Strahberger. “This still helps me today in taking on leadership responsibilities in an international context.”
BRIDGE BUILDER BETWEEN MUNICH AND SOUTHEAST ASIA
It is a personal goal for Jonas Strahberger to give others the same opportunities for professional and personal growth that he himself enjoyed. Supporting TUM students is a matter close to his heart. “The name TUM is an institution in Singapore, and you often meet TUM graduates in management positions,” says Strahberger. “Over a beer after work, we had the idea of launching a mentoring program for TUM and TUM Asia students in Singapore.”
The TUM Alumni Chapter in Singapore, which opened on September 10, 2025, offers Jonas Strahberger and his colleagues – such as TUM Alumnus Dr. Thai-Lai Pham, CEO of Siemens ASEAN and President of the TUM Alumni Chapter Singapore – the perfect platform to further expand and strengthen the international TUM network through their regional mentoring. “We all share a similar value system that was shaped by our time at TUM: curiosity, integrity, and a sense of responsibility,” says Jonas Strahberger. “I find it very meaningful to pass on these experiences to the next generation.”

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from TUM in 2013, Master’s Degree in 2015
Jonas Strahberger completed his bachelor’s degree in Management & Technology at TUM in 2013, followed by his master’s degree in 2015. He began his career as an intern at TÜV SÜD ASEAN in 2013 – today he is the CEO and responsible for the entire region, including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Together with other TUM Alumni, he has been involved in the newly founded TUM Alumni Chapter Singapore since 2025. Whether in his professional environment, among friends, or within his family, good relationships and mutual trust are very important to Jonas Strahberger.
Jonas Strahberger is happily married to his wife Susanne, whom he has known since school, and they have a son together. Without his wife, who always supports him, his international career would not have been possible. In his free time, he enjoys many little adventures with her in Singapore – mountain biking, hiking in the jungle, or taking their son to great playgrounds and water parks.
