FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

Registration and Login

Every student, employee or guest of TUM gets a so called TUM ID (“TUM-Kennung”) from TUMonline. It is part of the TUM account. Its format is “no34yif” (consonant, vocal, digit, digit, consonant, vocal, consonant). You can find this loginname in your TUMonline-account.

If you finished your studies before 2004, you may not have a TUM ID yet. In this case, please send us an e-mail to community@tum.de or register here.

If you do not remember your TUM ID but can log into TUMonline, you can view your ID under “TUM ID” in your business cared. If you cannot log in, please send us an e-mail to community@tum.de.

You forgot your password? You can request a new one to be sent to the forwarding email address provided in TUMonline. If the registered e-mail address is no longer accurate, please contact community@tum.de.

Do you already have a TUM ID? Then you should be able to use your TUMonline account details to log in here.

You don’t have a TUM ID yet? Please register here. We will verify your information and get back to you as soon as possible. Please understand that the verification process may take several days, as older study details may need to be verified in the archive. To speed up the process, you can send us a copy of your diploma or doctoral certificate to community@tum.de.

We use this information to clearly identify you. The TUM Community is accessible only for members of TUM (students, doctoral students, alumni and former employees). Your personal details are necessary to make sure that you belong to the authorised group of people.

The data you provide during registration will be stored in our database and, if necessary, matched and completed with the data already available in TUMonline. We use it to stay in touch with you by keeping you posted about news from the network (e.g. newsletter, KontakTUM) and to invite you to special events (e.g. Vivat TUM, anniversary of your diploma and/or doctorate).

For further information, please see our Data Protection Policy.

To stay in touch with you. If you like, we will keep you posted about news from the network (e.g. newsletter, KontakTUM) and send you invitations to special events (e.g. Vivat TUM, anniversary of your diploma and/or doctorate).
Events

At https://www.community.tum.de/events/ you will find an overview of all upcoming events and have the possibility to filter them. In addition, our newsletters will notify you about new events on various topics related to alumni, career and doctoral studies. To register for an event, you need to log in.

To register for an event, you need to log in. Click on “More” in the event and the login page will open. Once logged in with your account details, you can access the full description of the event and are able to register yourself and any people you may want to bring to the event by using the form provided.

Our website and the TUM Community access the same database to verify that you are an Alumni of TUM. If you register or log in to the TUM Community, you are also logged in to the website and are able to register for events.

Registering in the Community has a number of advantages for you: on the one hand, you are able to review and update your personal details in your profile (e.g. address, email etc.). This also includes your subscriptions and services, i.e. the newsletters and magazines we send you and to which you can subscribe or unsubscribe with a simple mouse click.

On the other hand, we offer you a platform that enables you to get in touch with other alumni. You can expand your professional network, find former classmates or reach out to alumni in your next travel destination.

The TUM Network thrives on the commitment of our alumni. Events organised by alumni for alumni have therefore been an integral part of our work for a long time. Are you working in an interesting field? You would like to give others a tour of your (chosen) home town? Or would you simply like to meet other alumni and organise a nice get-together? Get in touch with us at alumniandcareer@tum.de. We are more than happy to support you and promote your event in the TUM Network.

TUM Alumni

The TUM Community features a search function that allows you to search for specific people. Frequently, however, one does not remember their last name or does not know where they now live.

Of course you are always welcome to contact us (alumniandcareer@tum.de). Unfortunately, we do not have the necessary data from all our alumni and for privacy reasons we cannot pass on personal data. However, we are more than happy to forward a message for you.

Theoretically yes. However, we do not have all the academic and contact details of our alumni in our database. But if you register with the network, respectively the TUM Community, we will verify your academic data and will of course invite you to your anniversary.

Alternatively, you are welcome to write us, preferably with a copy of your diploma or doctoral certificate. Should you have the names and addresses of former fellow students, we would be very pleased if you could share them with us so that we can contact them as well.

Here you can find more information on the Jubilees.

The TUM Network comes alive through the connections between all its members. Especially the TUM Mentoring Programme, in which TUM Alumni accompany TUM Students for a period of time, is highly popular and promotes the exchange between generations and cultures. The different formats offer something for everyone.

In addition, we are regularly looking for speakers for various formats, such as the Career Lounges, the Women of TUM Talks or our webinars on different career-related topics. To find out more about the individual formats, please visit our website or register directly as a mentor. We also welcome new ideas! Please get in touch with us: alumniandcareer@tum.de.

Yes, it is. The University Library issues library cards for private persons in a fast and uncomplicated manner.

The TUM University Foundation was established in July 2010 by patrons from business and society in order to provide continuous support for the Technical University of Munich and to facilitate excellence. Every contribution helps and is highly appreciated. Donations can be made directly online on our website.
